Boombox — Spotify’s Upcoming Project
- 19 Apr 2021
Spotify together with Facebook are planning to launch a new project Boombox. Let’s see what it’s all about.
The idea behind Boombox is simple. You’ll be able to listen to your favorite jams/albums on Spotify while freely navigating Facebook and using its numerous services and apps without having two platforms clashing.
Basically, it’s an inline audio player that is synchronized with Spotify’s tracklists. Interestingly, they are not externally linked to the music service.
The feature will expand creator’s palette — a tool arsenal that creative bloggers use on Facebook. For instance, musicians will be able to share their albums and singles quickly.
Besides, this feature will make podcasts and auido-series available in a flick. Facebook seems to follow in the footsteps of Clubhouse. The feature has already been tested in other countries.
As Zuckerberg added:
“Of course, it includes some areas that, that have been, you know, popular recently like podcasting and kind of live audio rooms like this, but I also think that there’s some interesting things that are under-explored in the area overall.”
It is expected it’ll arrive at the American market this April/early May, so prepare your headphones.
