Fortnite to Introduce a New Skin: Samus Aran?

What a surprise right from the court! In its case versus Apple, Epic revealed a presentation that was initially meant for in-house use only. It focuses on guest characters in Fortnite, and suddenly – along with those we have seen, like Kratos, Master Chief, or John Wick – we see Samus Aran, the protagonist of Metroid. 

Metroid is one of those games that defined an entire genre. Samus Aran, the protagonist, has already a cult following her. Seeing her in Fortnite, given her abilities and exoskeleton suit, is logical, as she fits in the Fortnite universe perfectly. Especially since she did not appear in new Metroid games for four years, and it’s quite an era in the industry. There are already generations of gamers that did not see Metroid in its fame and glory but joined the gaming world with Fortnite already in it.

Why hasn’t the audience seen her yet? Probably because there was no right moment to introduce her. It could have come (and still can) closer to the release date of the upcoming Metroid Prime 4. Fortnite is a great place for promotion, and Metroid is a cult series in its own right, so the benefit would be reciprocal. For now, we have to wait until the cameo is officially confirmed by both Epic and Nintendo.
