Instagram Might Add Likes to Stories Soon

If you use Instagram Stories, you know that there’s an option to send reactions to other users’ direct messages. There has been no way to react publicly yet, but the situation is about to change. According to the developer Alessandro Paluzzi's recent tweet, Instagram is already working on adding likes to Stories.

Just a Like Button

According to the leaked developer’s screenshots, the like button will be placed next to the text bar at the bottom. Unlike the like button that we use to react to posts, this one will have animations and allow you to put multiple likes. There will be no private notification for this action, but you will be able to see the list of people who liked your story and, perhaps, for how many times.

The data is still unconfirmed officially, so everything might change multiple times in the coming weeks. It’s also not clear whether the like-lists will be available after the 48-hour lifespan of a story. It would be very nice if Instagram decides to allow us to transfer the stories to Highlights along with the likes.

One More Thing

We also received notifications that Instagram is removing the option to swipe up and see links under the stories. The gesture will be replaced with reportedly more convenient linking stickers. Some users, including us, have already received notifications that the update is coming on August 30. Do you need this update?

Coming Soon?

WhatsApp update tracker WABetaInfo approves that the feature is actually in development, so we should definitely expect it in the near future. However, the tracker adds that there’s no way to test the feature in the latest public beta yet. Are you waiting for the feature to come? Will you enable it in your Instagram account? Let’s talk in the comments, and don’t forget to share the news with other users.
