Netflix Plans to Create Video Game Based on the ‘Squid Game’ Series

Netflix continues to enjoy a wild success of the ‘Squid Game’ series, so it’s not surprising that the company now has an interest in developing a video game based on the series. The streaming service has previously mentioned that they want to start creating games based on some original series and offer them in the app.

If you haven’t yet watched ‘Squid Game,’ the show offers a dark twist on children’s games. In the series, adults play games, but the stakes are extremely high, as only one of them is able to survive by the end. According to Minyoung Kim from Netflix, the company has received plenty of requests and they are looking for ways to bring more joy to the viewers and stay true to the world of the show.

Because of the nature of the series, it’s not difficult to imagine it turning into a video game. What is more, there have already been many versions created by fans. Some games, such as Roblox, offer an opportunity to create custom matches, and those who watch ‘Squid Game’ have tried remaking the show in other worlds. It is still unclear how long we would have to wait to see the game developed by Netflix, as it is still a largely unexplored territory for the company.

It is more than likely that the game will be designed for mobile devices as opposed to becoming a full-on console or PC game. Previously, Netflix has already offered ‘Stranger Things’ in this format, as the game was available right in the Netflix app. There is no doubt that the game will be made on a smaller scale, so you shouldn’t expect a huge release. Hopefully, developers have some surprises in store for the fans.
