Finally, the Call of Duty fans are getting some news about new games in the series. Activision announced that 2022 will be the year when we will see both Call of Duty: Warzone 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. What is more, the publisher claims that these games will be created on a new engine.

According to the developers, the games are being created from the ground up, so there is definitely a lot of new material for players to look forward to. Another piece of news is that Infinity Ward was assigned leadership in the work on both of these projects, so it’s interesting how things will turn out.

One of the strong marketing points associated with the future release was the use of a new engine. Developers of the game made a strong emphasis on bringing this engine to both of these games, but it’s doubtful that it will be all that new. It is likely that it will still be an upgrade of a previously used engine that was implemented in both Warzone and Modern Warfare 2019. It is understandable that publishers want to attract the attention of players in this way, but we still have to wait and see whether the changes are as grand as they claim.

When it comes to Warzone 2, the team working on the game describes the upcoming title as a huge evolution in the battle royale genre and it will also come with an updated sandbox mode. As for the sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, we don’t have an official name yet.

Despite what some reports were saying, it seems that both of these titles will be available for current generation and old generation platforms. Unfortunately, the publisher didn’t share a trailer or screenshots of games, so it’s all a big mystery at this point.

Are you waiting for these games? What are your expectations? Please, tell us what you think in the comments below.
