TikTok Shopping: All You Need to Know
- 26 Aug 2021
Are you a TikTok user who wants to get product offers and purchase items right in the app? We have good news for you! TikTok and Shopify are launching a new Shopping feature tab that allows merchants to add mini-storefronts to their business accounts and sell items directly. Want to know more? We’ve covered all the details for you below.
How It Works
Starting from August 24, all merchants who have Shopify-driven stores and use TikTok for advertising can add a shopping tab to their profiles. The tab will automatically synchronize the profile and the authorized Shopify catalog and create a storefront with direct links to items. Users who tap on the products will be redirected to the checkout page without leaving the TikTok app. Sellers can not only create storefronts but also tag products in their videos to set users free from boring searching.
The experience is very similar to what Instagram offers, but it’s currently in beta and works for a selected list of merchants from Canada, the US, and the UK, including Kylie Jenner’s Kylie Cosmetics, and other popular brands. If you are a Shopify merchant and live in one of the currently supported countries, you can also apply for the beta testing program via Shopify’s official TikTok channel.
Release Date
The beta version of TikTok Shopping is already in action, but the global release date is still unknown. According to TikTok, it might take up to several months for the new shopping feature to launch across all regions that have Shopify and TikTok coverage. We recommend subscribing to Shopify’s TikTok channel to be notified when the new service goes live. Are you excited about the new way of selling things on the most rapidly growing social media ever?
