WhatsApp Announces Communities to Help Manage Group Chats

WhatsApp has finally announced its group-management feature called Communities. This update has been talked about by beta testers for months now, as it was first discovered in its testing phase for the web version. With the help of this feature, users will have an easier time managing groups, which is especially important for admins that have several groups.

The way this feature works is that it brings several groups into one Community, so they are easier for the admin to organize and manage. For instance, with the help of this update, an admin will be able to send one message to people in all groups. This feature will be particularly useful to volunteers, teachers, managers, etc.

A user that is a part of a certain group won’t be able to see information from other groups despite all of them being in one Community. Similarly, users from other groups won’t be able to see your information and phone number, so there is no violation of privacy in that regard. Admins, on the other hand, will see contacts of members in all groups that they created.

Users in the Community that has joined a single group will also see an option that they can subscribe to other groups in the Community. Before they decide to join, they won’t be able to see any conversations that take place in different groups. Just like in regular groups, users also have an opportunity to leave, report abuse, and also block any groups that they don’t like.

Admins will benefit the most from the new tools, as they will be able to organize their groups by importance and also send one message to all of them if needed. At the moment, it is unclear when this new tool will be fully available to users around the world.

Are you an admin of WhatsApp groups? What do you think about this new feature? Please, tell us what you think in the comment section below.
