Privacy and security on social networks and messengers are increasingly important, so we gathered 3 WhatsApp settings that you need to change as soon as possible to boost your account safety in 2022. Read on and tune your WhatsApp to make it serve better.

1. Lock the App

Even if your smartphone is already locked, you still need to lock your WhatsApp separately. It’s necessary to do so to ensure that anyone who uses your smartphone doesn’t read your messages in the app. To enable the lock, you need to:

  1. Go to “Settings”;
  2. Tap “Account” and select “Privacy”;
  3. Find the “Screen Lock” feature and enable Touch ID or Face ID authentication;
  4. Select the time gap after which the lock must be automatically enabled.

2. Enable Self-Deleting Messages

With the new Disappearing Messages feature, you can set up your WhatsApp to delete all messages automatically every 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days. To enable the feature:

  1. Update your WhatsApp to the latest version;
  2. Go to “Settings”;
  3. Tap “Account” and then “Privacy”
  4. Turn on the Default Message TImer.

3. Use Two-step Verification

Two-factor authentication is a simple yet very effective measure against hackers. By enabling the feature, you can protect your account from unauthorized access as it will require your sim card for verification. To turn the feature on, simply go to “Settings,” tap “Account,” and tap the “Two-step Verification” feature. Now the app will require a code from an SMS to let you in.
