No More Car View: Spotify Removes the Famous Feature

Car View is no longer available via the Spotify app. The feature has been gone since last October, and its removal is permanent.

Car View has been removed from Spotify's app. It used to play the role of a simple Now Playing feature, while you listened to music and podcasts inside your car.

The disappearance of the feature was spotted last October. Puzzled users started a thread dedicated to the issue, which prompted Spotify to officially admit that Car View is now a part of history.

At the same time, this caused some inconvenience: Car View allowed you to manipulate the music app in a hands-free mode.

To solve it, Spotify recommends employing Google Assistant. It’s fully compatible and allows navigating the application while keeping hands on the wheel at the same time.

However, the app’s representatives claim that the removal of Car View doesn’t mean they don’t care about those listeners who drive a lot:

"On the contrary, we're actively exploring a variety of new ways to deliver the best in-car listening experience. Think of retiring the car-view as something that needs to happen in an effort to make way for new innovations coming down the track."

Interestingly, the disappearance of Car View coincides with the Car Thing’s premiere. It is a smart player designed by Spotify, which does the same stuff like the music app. The only difference is that it “lets your phone do phone stuff”.

Seemingly, it has a Premium subscription by default and a touchscreen display. It also understands the voice commands and will play a podcast, news show, or a favorite track on the first vocalized demand.

Even though it’s a convenient toy, it costs $80, while performing the same function that Car View basically did for free.

What do you think about the feature removal? Do you miss the old Car View? Let us know in the comments!
