Spawn Illuminati by Elements of Design is an iPhone and iPod touch beauty. Even though Spawn Illuminati serves no other purpose than entertainment it still creates some rich effects that can be controlled and altered with your fingers.
iPhone and iPod touch apps don’t get much simpler than this. No menus, no options, no bells and no whistles. Once Spawn Illuminati is launched there is a quick instructions screen. Quick being my only gripe. The instructions are displayed for a mere 5 seconds. To catch all the information you need to restart the app a few times or take a screenshot. (For those who don’t know how to take a screenshot, hold the iPhone or iPod touch’s home button and then press the on/off button. The screenshot will then be stored in your photo library.)
Once you understand the instructions it’s time to have some fun.
Much of the actions revolve around the sliding of two fingers. To create larger particles put both fingers in the middle of your screen and expand them, one upwards and one downwards (this is the same movement you use in Safari to zoom out). The same sliding action on the left side of the screen will adjust the length of the particles. The exact same action on the right side will change the color. The same finger movement, only left to right will adjust the speed. Double tapping will create a firework effect and dragging your finger around will make the particles follow. To reverse the effects do the motions in the opposite direction. Experiment and play around with each of the actions to create some stunning visual effects.
In trying out Spawn Illuminati I did find one semi-practical use for it. By using the screenshot technique I discussed above you are able to create an endless amount of backgrounds for your iPhone or iPod touch. The developers created this video so you can see examples of what others have created, or checkout their website Elements of Design.
